The blessed month of Ramadan brings with it a time of reflection, introspection and healing, during which we reconnect with our loving Rabb by living mindfully and trying our best to restore balance in our lives. Fasting and spending more time in prayer & contemplation, while nourishing our souls with the light and beauty of the Quran revives our hearts and calms our minds. By fulfilling the sunnah (prophetic practice) of fasting, we are also reminded of 'doing without' and the importance of treating our bodies as an amanah (trust) by looking after it to the best of our ability.
Another important sunnah linked with Ramadan is the prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) hikes from Mecca to the Jabal-al-Noor (mountain of light), where he first received the revelation of the Quran, during the holy month of Ramadan. The prophet's recommendation to learn archery, swimming and horse-riding and the narrations of his taking part in races with his wife Ayesha, shows us the importance our deen (religion) places on pursuing an active lifestyle.
Ramadan Recharge has been developed to remind us of this important sunnah, and to help us stay active during Ramadan, so we can increase our focus and energy during this blessed month while feeling more connected in our prayers, worship and fasting. By doing some activity every day throughout this month, we can emerge fully 'recharged' at the end of it, and live more active, healthier and happier lives, throughout the rest of the year, insha'Allah (God willing).
